What did you class learn about your partner school? How was their class the same as yours? What differences did you find? Do you have a link to something your class created to share your Skype call? Click on your school name and edit your page.
We have 3 Mystery Skypes Scheduled.
Our first today, was with Kim Fiore from Trinity Academy, in Caldwell New Jersey.
We Skyped with her third graders. Both groups did a great job asking questions. This was the first Mystery Skype where I let my 2nd graders choose which questions to ask. In the past I guided them. They really did a great job. We enjoyed learning that both of our schools are in a state and city that was the home of a former President. Grover Cleveland for them, Gerald Ford for us.
We shared Catholic Schools' Week Activities too. Both our schools were having a Pajama day!
Our second chat was with Joyce Kolakowski and St. Pius V in Buena Park, California. It was nice to chat with a school with warm temperatures. It was 70 degrees in California and 15 degrees for us in Michigan. Our "wind chill factor" made it feel like - 4 degrees.
Both students did a wonderful job asking questions. We liked how they asked direction questions first - Are you in the East? West? My 2nd graders like to ask about borders first - Do you border the Atlantic Ocean? Pacific? Canada?
We compared Catholic Schools' Week activities and learned that they have an all school Tug-a-War! With all of our snow, we cannot imagine an outside activity. It would be fun to watch.
Our third chat is scheduled for next week Monday with Martha Shaw. Will revel her city and state after we chat!
